Kamil Urbanski – composer, pianist, arranger

b_450_450_16777215_00___images_interplay_img_0587.jpg He graduated Composition and Arranging studies at The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (Poland).

During the The 2nd Jazz Pianists Festival in Warsaw in 2004 he won 1st prize in the contest.   

He performed with such artists as Wanda Warska, Grazyna Auguscik, Teresa Budzisz – Krzyzanowska; Andrzej Kurylewicz, Wojciech Karolak, Andrzej Jagodzinski, Paweł Panta, Cezary Konrad, Wojciech Majewski, Szabolcs Esztenyi, Jenny Quayle, Maria Seweryn, Ewa Skardowska, Danuta Stradowska, Jerzy Wolochowicz, Adam Zarzycki. He performed with Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jacek Rogala, Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus under the baton of Monika Wolinska, Kwartet Wilanow (Wilanow Quartet).  

For singer Gaba Kulka he arranged few compositions for the album “Hat, rabbit” in 2009.   

At 2010 he became one of the seventeenth finalists (rhythmic improvisation section) from all over the world of YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011.  

Together with Jedrzej Laciak in 2010 he founded Interplay Jazz Duo - the most important of his personal projects, where he systematically develops his musical language with modern harmony, improvisation and arranging ideas. 

In July 2011 during the recording of the newest “Juniors Band” album, project directed by Miroslaw Geborek, he was a conductor assistant and played the piano in the orchestra. He also arranged for big-band three compositions of Stanislaw Soyka, famous polish singer.

For his achievements in music he was awarded special prize "Jupiter 2011" granted by The City Starachowice Cultural Centre in 2011.  

Kamil Urbanski is an author of over fifty compositions, among them “Maly Koncert Fortepianowy” (“Little Piano Concerto”), String Quintet, String Quartet, “Heksagon” for prepared piano, “Lacrimosa” for a cappella choir, ”Caligula” for symphony orchestra and jazz trio.
